A HISTORY OF AN AMERICAN ART COLONY: FROM HAWTHORNE TO HELLTOWN

The year 2020 marked the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower landing in Provincetown Harbor. For the last one-hundred-plus years, Provincetown has become the oldest continuous art colony in the United States. As a collective, this art community’s founding fathers (and sisters) ultimate goal was the establishment of “two miles of art.” It is safe to say that dreams do come true.
