Third Annual Outsiders Festival

April 28 – May 10, 2027 · Provincetown, Massachusetts
Changemakers. Muckrakers. Clamrakers. Rulebreakers. Risktakers. Troublemakers. Butchers and Bakers and Candlestickmakers. Welcome to the original makerspace.
Presented by Camp Provincetown.
Changemakers. Muckrakers. Caretakers. Matchmakers. Heartbreakers. Ballbreakers. Risktakers. Rulebreakers. Youthquakers. Troublemakers. Bellyachers. Moneymakers. Mythmakers. Undertakers. Sailmakers. Movers and Shakers. Givers and Takers. Authentics and Fakers. Butchers and Bakers and Candlestickmakers. For 300 years, Provincetown has been making things — art, music, theater, literature, fortunes, families, scandals, rumors, revolutions, and the occasional spectacular mess. Call it the original makerspace: a narrow spit of sand at the end of the road where fishermen, artists, immigrants, outcasts, free thinkers, and assorted troublemakers have been making something out of practically nothing. Sometimes beautiful. Sometimes outrageous. Rarely ordinary.
Made in Provincetown celebrates three centuries of invention, reinvention, and creative disobedience. Not another exercise in polishing the past until everybody looks respectable, but a chance to rummage through the whole glorious, contradictory mess. The handmade tales and tall tales. The saints and scoundrels. The people who built the town, the people who escaped to it, the people who tried to change it, and the people who refused to be changed. From fishing boats to art studios, back rooms to center stage, Provincetown has been a place to make a living, make a name, make a scene, or make a complete fool of yourself. Sometimes all four before lunch. And somewhere along the way, this unlikely little town became a place where people could not only make things, but remake themselves.
Three hundred years is a fine excuse for a party, but we’re not throwing a birthday bash for a museum piece. April 28 through May 10, 2027, Camp Provincetown’s third annual Outsiders Festival takes the celebration into the streets, galleries, theaters, gathering places, and unexpected corners of town, followed by a tricentennial gathering at the Pilgrim Monument on June 14. Artists, performers, storytellers, neighbors, newcomers, and anyone with something to make, share, question, or stir up are invited. This isn’t about putting a period at the end of 300 years. It’s about what happens next. Because Provincetown isn’t a finished product. It’s a work in progress. And after three centuries, we’re just getting warmed up.
